Guide to Authors

Guidelines for Online Submission:

  • To submit your manuscript, you are required to register as an author with the IJEISSAH journal and submit your manuscript online.

There are no fees for submitting articles. However, the author must pay article processing fees if the piece is chosen for publication.

Article Processing Fees (APC): RM200 for Malaysians and $50 for international*

The fees includes:

  1. Plagiarism checking, editing, and draft preparation.
  2. Cross Ref DOI fees
  3. Free open access will be provided for the article.

*A remission of publication costs may be granted upon request for authors from developing nations.

At the start, confirm the following codes:

  1. The Corresponding author is required to register in the journal to submit their manuscript.
  2. Authors are required to provide a complete list of references cited in their paper. 
  3. The journal has a strict policy against plagiarism. A plagiarism check report must be attached to every submission. All submissions will be checked before being sent to reviewers.
  4. All papers are reviewed by a minimum of two reviewers.
  5. It is assumed that all authors have significantly contributed to the submitted manuscript if there is a co-author(s) in the submitted manuscript. 
  6. In case of the presence of any deceitful information in an article, the authors will be responsible for providing retractions or corrections of mistakes.
  7. It is strictly prohibited to publish the same research in more than one journal.
  8. Changes to authorship: This policy concerns the addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names in the authorship of accepted manuscripts. Before the accepted manuscript is published in an online issue, requests to add or remove an author, or to rearrange the author names, must be sent to the Journal from the corresponding author of the accepted manuscript and must include: (a) the reason the name should be added or removed, or the author names rearranged and (b) written confirmation (e-mail) from all authors that they agree with the addition, removal or rearrangement. In the case of addition or removal of authors, this includes confirmation from the author being added or removed. Requests that are not sent by the corresponding author will be forwarded by the Journal to the corresponding author, who must follow the procedure as described above. Any requests to add, delete, or rearrange author names in a published article will not be taken into account. 
  9. Conflict of interest: contributors should reveal any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationships with other people or organizations within three years of beginning the submitted work that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence, their work. 
  10. All submitted manuscripts to the journal must follow the Paper Submission Guidelines of the journal as explained below. 
  1. Authors are required to download Cover Letter and Copyright Form, fill them in, and submit them to the journal along with the manuscript.
  2. The submission must not have been previously published, nor should it be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  3. Authors must proofread their manuscript before submission. Before they are published, IHEISSAH publications are checked, and reviewers are asked to rectify or identify any linguistic problems or typos.

General Guidelines for Formatting Manuscripts

  1. Use the IJEISSAH Template to draft and submit your manuscript for publication.
  2. The layout of the manuscript is only in white and black in the print format; however, you may use colour for graphs and figures.
  3. The font type and size of the text, the figure(s)/tables(s) must be the same.
  4. The text should be written in good English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of both).
  5. We only accept manuscripts in English language.
  6. We provide language editing services for manuscripts with weak English. You can apply for English Language Editing service from info@ijeissah.com.my.
  7. Length of paper: 3000-5000 words are preferred.

Paper Submission Guidelines

1. Guidelines for Title Page

The title page is a separate page that should include the following:

Title: should be

  • Concise and informative.
  • Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible. 
  • Preferred not more than 10 words.

Author’s names and affiliations 

  • indicate the given name and family name clearly.
  • Present the authors' affiliation addresses below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name.
  • Provide the e-mail address of each affiliation, the country name, and telephone number, if possible.

Corresponding author 

  • Clearly indicate who is willing to handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing, during and post-publication.
  • Telephone numbers (with country and area code), the e-mail address and the complete postal address must be clearly provided.

Sponsoring information 
Indicate if the research is sponsored or supported by an organization.

2. Guidelines for Text File

A text file is a separate file that should include the following:

Title (WITHOUT AUTHOR'S NAME) which should be

  • Concise and informative.
  • Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible. 
  • Preferred not more than 10 words

Abstract: Should:

  • Be concise and factual abstract
  • Be 200-250 words.
  • State briefly the purpose of the research, the methodology, the main results and major conclusions.
  • Avoid references

Keywords 

  • Provide 4-8 keywords.
  • Avoid abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible. 

The Text

  • Divide your article into clearly defined and numbered sections. Subsections should be numbered 1., 2., (then 1.1, 1.1.1, 1.1.2), 1.2, and (2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2) etc.
  • Don’t number the abstract.
  • Any subsection, should not be more than 700 words. Authors are urged to write as concisely as possible, but not at the expense of clarity. 

Figures

  • Graphs, diagrams, photos, etc. should be prepared as clear, black and white (no colour), original positives, suitable for reproduction.
  • All figures should be embedded within the manuscript and must be captioned and numbered sequentially.
  • Follow the American Psychological Association referencing style in formatting the figures.

Tables, Equations, and Formula

  • Should not exceed the A4 page size (can be formatted in portrait form, if needed).
  • All tables should be embedded within the manuscript and must be captioned and numbered sequentially.
  • Follow the American Psychological Association referencing style in formatting the tables.
  • The text size of the formula and normal text should be similar.

References and In-Text Citations

  • Avoid citation in the abstract.
  • Ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa).
  • When a reference is cited as 'in the press,' it means the item has been approved for publication.
  • When citing and listing of web references, the full URL should be given; in addition to any further information such as author names, dates, etc., if found.
  • Follow the American Psychological Association referencing style for text citations
  • References should be arranged alphabetically.
  • Provide the URL of all provided online references such as journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, technical reports, working papers, dissertations, etc.
  • All provided URLs must be active. The authors or editors may retrieve articles through the mentioned webpage.
  • MLA format and styling can be used for English Literature papers only. 

3. Submission Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines:

  1. The submission has not been previously published before, nor it is currently being considered by another journal for publication.
  2. All submissions are in Microsoft Word format.
  3. Where available, active URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is written in Times New Roman font type, 10-point, and single-spaced, employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points.
  5. All illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points.
  6. Formatting of the submission follows the journal Author Guidelines.
  7. The submission has no details about the authors. The authors' details must be attached to the Title page file.
  8. The following files are ready for submission: 1) Cover letter 2) Copyright Form 3) Title page and 4)Text file.
  9. Authors are advised to recommend two specialists in their research area as reviewers.
