Abstract
Nurses are eager to utilize their magnificent knowledge to help patients. Their ski11 and proficiency faci Iitate quick healing for the patient. Proper interaction with patients by the nurses can hasten the process of healing. With every word and action, the nurses either positively affect or negatively infect the work
atmosphere. The inner perceptions and attitude strongly influence the outward attitude, and vice-versa. Thus the administration should play a pivotal role in rewarding and retaining staff and at the same time, individual nurses must take active responsibility in positively affecting their own professional work atmosphere. So, during their career development the nurses must not become "professional victim" but should be a "professional victor." A competent nurse ought to understand that constructive and encouraging communication is infectious - capable of directly inoculating the work ambiance with a prolific and cheerful temperament.
The Malaysian Journal of Nursing therefore attempts to publish scholarly work on nursing research, practic e, education and policy matters associated to the family and society at large in health and illness sector. Furthermore, this journal is an endeavor to demonstrate the cultural diversity in the world with interdisciplinary and collaborative viewpoints for international breakthrough in the medical field. The present issue of the journal thus deals with the matters such as caring behaviours of the operation theatre nurses in the hospitals of Malaysia, nursing care for hypertensive client for anxiety management, development of concept for the clinical nurse practitioner, care of client with panic disorder, contact dermatitis related to occupational causes in the present years and evidence-based pain management in nursing practice, making an effort to deliver quality information for the upliftment of this noble profession.
