Abstract

Malaysia's Health status always strives to enhance health services within the country. Various facilities are provided in line with the current situation to serve the community. As a result, nursing education is experiencing a major up gradation process. Recent trends and innovations in nursing education are unfolding to prepare and educate nurses across geographical borders. The innovations and present day trends in nursing education ranges from full-time to diverse forms of distance learning programmes such as on line learning, e-Learning, web-based programmes, virtual learning and blended learning. Currently nursing education providers are moving into distance learning programmes to serve to the needs of nurses who are in service and aspire to continue to learn without having to lose out in work service and experience. Improvement in nursing practices is a prime concern, as nowadays patients are more demanding for quality health services. The International Council of Nurses has identied three key program areas as pivotal to the betterment of nursing and health. They are Professional Practice, Regulation, and Socio-economic welfare, also known as ICN's three pillars. ICN advances nursing, nurses and health through its policies, partnerships, advocacy, leadership progress, networks, congresses and special projects. Joint Commission International (JCI) works to enhance patient safety and quality of health care in the international region by offering education, publications, advisory services, and international approval and certication. All local or international organization therefore focuses on patient safety, as stated in the standard.  alaysia's Health status always strives to enhance health services within the country. Various  In view of the present scenario, continuing professional education is extremely important in professionalization of nursing in Malaysia. Higher and more profound education of Malaysian nurses with honest standards would increase greater responsibility for behavior, knowledge, and personal commitment in providing health care to people throughout their lifespan. Internationally, the current and pertinent trend in nurse education is the up gradation from diploma to degree level to make sure a well-educated nursing workforce for conveyance of quality patient care. The higher education will teach knowledge that will focus on intellectual outcomes enhancing their self-condence, upgrade their interpersonal communication skills, professionalism and academic knowledge. As patient needs and care situations have gotten more complex, nurses need to reach abilities like leadership, health policy, system improvement, research and proof-based practice, and teamwork and collaboration, as well as ability in specific content areas such as community and public health and also in geriatrics. Quality and performance improvement initiatives are driving notable changes healthcare system. In anticipation of the full execution of national health betterment over the next several years, the pace of these changes has been rising. The goals of these quality initiatives image the National Quality Strategy's three aims which evolved out of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's triple aim of upgrading the patient care experience, improving the population's health, and lowering healthcare costs. So in this endeavor The Malaysian Journal of Nursing prepare, educate and assess the nursing profession, so that the practicing nurses in Malaysia, can lead, integrate and create a difference in the quality of health care in any clinical areas all over the world. These will not only help nurses to deliver quality and outstanding nursing care, but will also safeguard continuous up gradation of strategies toward professionalism of nursing and standard services in any organizations.
