MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
Abstract
The require something more than just involvement and enthusiasm. Utilizing research in nursing practice requires research awareness. Research awareness is not only concerned with having a good perceptive about the principles of research, but it requires the confidence and authority to use research. But it has been reported that nurses' research awareness is affected by a lack of resources, confidence, knowledge, and the absence of a strategic leadership. Moreover various reports suggested that culture acts as a barrier to the use of research, and in a few cases there is restricted managerial support. Additionally it has been recognized internationally that challenges faced by under-resourced health care centers force nurses to prioritize care ignoring other aspects that are more crucial in nursing practice. For that reason organizations should make sure that nurse leaders have the resources they require to sustain the positive transition of new graduate nurses including adequate staffing and reasonable workloads for both experienced and new nurses. As a result nurse leaders should work to generate unit cultures that promote learning by encouraging new graduate nurses. Presently, the nursing profession is evolving and progressing at a spectacular pace. The current trends in nursing and care involve several factors taking into account aging population, a transition to informatics, a nursing shortage with an emphasis on specific frameworks for the guidance of nursing practice, together with incorporation of evidence based practice.
As nursing continue to change, so does the current healthcare environment. Affected by a multitude of factors; nursing will forever be in a continuous state of instability. Development can be both negative and positive. Changes in nursing profession will continue to take place due to the changing face of the populations or due to the rapidly altering technological environment or due to nurse/faculty shortages with an emphasis on evidence based research. Eventually nursing is always ready to face the challenge and will be able to progress ahead with vigor and responsibility.
