Abstract

A glimpse into a Nursing’s future:

In the present days we are coming across various health care problems which are completely new to medical world. People are facing critical health issues in the present scenario. In these circumstances, nurses act as a caregiver and the promoter of wellness. Recent years have seen steady progression in every sphere of life, especially in healthcare. Health care is one of the most critical and essential aspect of life, which is considered as one of the factors that indicate the index of development of a nation. The Malaysian Journal of Nursing (MJN) makes an effort to inform its reader about the modern technical changes and new adaptations that are occurring in nursing profession. As a consequence special edition of MJN edifies its reader about the strategic contribution of nurses’ capability, nursing performance and their job satisfaction. MJN even works as an intervention guide in the sphere of health care, health education and aims to promote health culture. We are at a time in our history where there is a high degree of unrest about health care. People are confused regarding the changes that are about to come in near future. In this respect the community and consumers alike benefit when nurses take on leadership roles in full partnership with physicians and other health professionals.

As steady developments are taking place in education and technology, implementation of nursing professionalism is essential to uplift the nursing standards and to keep at par with the patient’s expectations. MJN continues to publish comprehensive research on health care issues that has become a major concern for today’s generation. The current environment is changing drastically which is having a negative effect on human health. Nurses must be prepared to meet the increasingly complex health issues. Henceforth the nurses are expected to portray the elements of care, professionalism and efficient team work to deal with multifaceted situations. Therefore, MJN aims at empowering nurses to understand their role in the hospital taking into consideration the recent developments taking place in health care. MJN in this special issue publishes articles that not only enhances knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health care but also about medicine and public health and other disciplines that help in the healthy wellbeing of the society.
