Message from the Editor in Chief

As we recognize 2025 as a defining moment for nursing, it powerfully demonstrates how nurses are integral to every pillar of global health—clinical care, education, research, leadership, and policy—particularly at a time when the world is confronting unprecedented health, economic, and humanitarian challenges, reaffirming the indispensable role of the nursing profession in building resilient and equitable healthcare systems in the coming years, worldwide. The Malaysian Journal of Nursing (MJN) thrives to bring together global and critical health issues from pandemic preparedness to addressing health workforce shortages to accelerating progress on universal health coverage and ensuring sustainable healthcare development.

The Malaysian Journal of Nursing in its array of articles undertook a comprehensive initiative to review and update definition of nursing to reflect contemporary practice and the evolving, diverse needs of the global nursing community. Recognizing the complexity inherent in establishing a single, unifying initiative and supported by comprehensive documentation, the Malaysian Journal of Nursing (MJN) acknowledges nursing as a vital force that reinforces the advancement of professional practice, education, research, and health policy on a global scale. Reflecting on the past year, MJN affirms the indispensable role of nurses and nurse researchers worldwide, whose sustained commitment to advancing nursing science and practice, while delivering high-quality care to individuals, families, and communities. In response to the evolving needs of nursing on a global scale, MJN in this issue acknowledges the importance of ongoing advancements in nursing practice, strategic communication, leadership development, and digital transformation, with a strong emphasis on innovation, evidence-based approaches, and meaningful impact to strengthen the profession and improve health outcomes worldwide.
