Message from the Editor in Chief

In today’s complex global landscape, the definitions of “nursing” and “a nurse” have evolved to reflect the expanding scope, identity, and impact of the profession on global health. A nurse is no longer confined to traditional roles, but stands as a highly educated, ethically grounded, and regulated professional who works autonomously and collaboratively across diverse settings to enhance health literacy, promote wellness, prevent illness, protect safety, and provide compassionate, culturally safe care. Nurses are pivotal in advancing public health, shaping policies, managing health systems, and driving evidence-informed decisions. As we confront rising non-communicable diseases, aging populations, health disparities, climate crises, and technological shifts, strong nursing leadership is more critical than ever. The Malaysian Journal of Nursing (MJN) remains steadfast in supporting and empowering nurse leaders across the globe who are visionary, adaptive, and equipped to influence decision- making at every level. Through cutting-edge research and knowledge dissemination, MJN articles showcases innovative explanations to pressing regional and global health challenges— including those concerning workforce migration and equitable health care access. By aligning with global priorities and amplifying the voice of nursing, MJN helps position nurses as key architects of resilient, people-centred health systems. With a growing and empowered workforce, nursing has the momentum and responsibility to lead the transformation of healthcare worldwide. MJN in this regard serve as a catalyst for the transformation, offering a dynamic platform that bridges nursing science with academic excellence, educational innovation, and the advancement of professional nursing practice.
