In the present-day scenario, nursing incorporates autonomous and collective care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or healthy and in all situations. Nursing comprises the advancement of health, prevention of illness, and the care for the ill, disabled and ailing individuals. Encouragement, promotion of a safe environment, research, involvement in influencing health policy and in patient and health systems supervision, and education are significant nursing roles. As the largest healthcare profession in the world, nurses are critical to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC). UHC is an all-encompassing matter that take into account many nursing projects and policy initiatives. Nurses all over the world particularly wishes to stress in the perpetuation of quality care through advancement in UHC. These ventures are essential and requires investment in a competent health workforce with a focus on nurses and midwives. In order to achieve this, nurses, need quality education, recruitment and retention strategies and assurance of decent work and fair pay. As is evident from this that nurses, as the primary providers of healthcare to all communities in all settings, nurses are the key to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (sdgs).
We must understand that the Sustainable Development Goals are within our reach. In our unremitting pursuit of these goals and a healthier and more prosperous humankind, we must come together to influence the full potential of this multifaceted system and must support more efficiently the countries and individuals. Nurses being the guardians for health and well-being, are deeply committed to securing the safety of this planet.
Therefore, the Malaysian Journal of Nursing brings together varied array of articles which discusses the wellbeing of the current and future generations. This issue attempts to establish a foundation which will help to combat health related crisis at global, regional, national and community levels.
