Although research has established that human resource management benefits individuals, teams, and organizations, it needs to be clarified whether it could promote innovative behaviour and work engagement among hotel employees. This study aimed to investigate the effect of human resource management practices on innovative behaviour among hotel employees and examine work engagement's mediating role in this relationship. Questionnaires from five four-star hotels were given to 152 respondents in order to collect data. The PLS-SEM model was used to evaluate the data. The result showed that human resource management practice significantly and positively affects innovative work behaviour and engagement. Similarly, work engagement substantially positively impacts the innovative work behaviour of hotel employees. The research also demonstrates that work engagement significantly mediated the association between human resource management practice perception and innovative work behaviour.</p> Wehelmina Rumawas Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism (IJRTBT) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.lucp.net/index.php/ijrtbt/article/view/2782 Tue, 05 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Measuring the Impact of Technology Innovations and Renewable Energy Consumption for Enhancing Environmental Sustainability in India: Empirical Evidence from ARDL Approach https://ejournal.lucp.net/index.php/ijrtbt/article/view/2779 <p>Rising carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions at a breakneck pace is a serious problem for sustainable development. To ensure climate-protected sustainable development, we have to promote safe and sustainable energy for the future. Here, the production and consumption of renewable energy is having a vital role. Apart from this, technological innovation is also crucial to taste the benefits of renewable energy and reduce the emission of different harmful gases. Against this backdrop, the present study intends to investigate the contribution of technological innovation along with the use of renewable energy in ensuring environmental sustainability in India using the ARDL model. Further, the Granger causality test is also performed in this study to check the direction of causality among the variables. The results of this study reveal that renewable energy consumption reduces CO2 emissions in India in both the short and long run. This means that using renewable energy would help India to bring environmental sustainability through reducing CO2 emissions. However, a positive relationship is noted between technological innovation and CO2 emissions. This may imply innovation in technology in India is unable to act as an instrument to bring environmental sustainability.</p> Raktim Ghosh, Priyajit Kumar Ghosh, Bhaskar Bagchi, Biswajit Paul Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism (IJRTBT) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.lucp.net/index.php/ijrtbt/article/view/2779 Mon, 15 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 The Vital Role of Institutional Capacity Interrelation with Impact of Sustainable Tourism Development: A Case Study of Inle Region, Myanmar https://ejournal.lucp.net/index.php/ijrtbt/article/view/2561 <p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;"><span lang="EN-US">This article intends to discuss the relationship between institutional capacity and the impact of sustainable tourism development beyond COVID-19 pandemics and political instability as a case study of the Inle region, Myanmar. According to the World Tourism Organization, direct tourism jobs (between 100 to 120 million) and related services industries (144 million workers worldwide) are currently at risk. Although Myanmar’s tourism industry directly supported 570,000 jobs (2.5% of total employment) in 2017, those good results turned the whole tourism industry upside down beyond 2020. Especially, carrying capacity in the tourism sector is facing huge challenges due to a shortage of the tourism workforce. Meanwhile, most tourism-skilled laborers are no longer in the right position because of brain drain and survival situations.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;"><span lang="EN-US">The data for this study were mainly collected from secondary sources, like data issued by government authorities in Myanmar. Besides, the author interviewed the leading local service providers in private sector institutions stationed in the Inle Lake region.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;"><span lang="EN-US">Moreover, there are two issues to be found: (1) economic downsize due to fewer tourists arriving; and (2) shortage of skilled laborers in the tourism sector is being caused by the impact of institutional capacity, which is to be affected by sustainable tourism development by analyzing the qualitative research approach. However, not only the public sector but also private sector institutions are continuously emphasizing capacity-building issues as recommendations.</span></p> <p style="text-align: justify; line-height: 115%;"><span lang="EN-US">Hence, the industry and its workforce can find motivation and work towards rebuilding and shaping a more resilient tourism sector.</span></p> Thet Lwin Toh, Amiya Bhaumik, Midhun Chakkaravarthy, Sui Reng Liana Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism (IJRTBT) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.lucp.net/index.php/ijrtbt/article/view/2561 Mon, 15 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Measuring the Impact of Monetary Policy on the Efficiency of Sudanese Islamic Banks https://ejournal.lucp.net/index.php/ijrtbt/article/view/3046 <p>This study explores the influence of monetary policy on the efficiency of Sudanese Islamic Banks. It aims to determine the impact of monetary policy on bank efficiency, identify influential aspects, and provide recommendations for policy adjustments. The research uses both qualitative and quantitative methods, collecting primary data through surveys and interviews with bank executives and policymakers, and secondary data from bank financial reports and central bank policy documents. The findings reveal a significant relationship between monetary policy and bank efficiency, with specific aspects such as interest rate controls and reserve requirements having the most substantial impact. Different types of Islamic banks, such as commercial banks, were affected differently by monetary policy, with changes in policy over time having both positive and negative effects on bank efficiency. These findings contribute to the existing knowledge on the interplay between monetary policy and bank efficiency, particularly in the context of Islamic banking in Sudan. However, the study's limitations, including a focus on a single country and reliance on self-reported data, may limit its generalizability. Future research could expand this study by considering other countries or using alternative data sources.</p> Mohammed Ali Maram Copyright (c) 2024 International Journal on Recent Trends in Business and Tourism (IJRTBT) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://ejournal.lucp.net/index.php/ijrtbt/article/view/3046 Mon, 15 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000
